Acknowledging the importance of customer convenience, Visayan Electric Company (VECO) has made it easier for customers to report emergency  power outages.

Usually when a power outage occurred in our area, we have to call VECO and usually we received  a busy signal when too many calls were made at the same time by other customers.  Now, all we have to do is simply send out a text message.  VECO will reply within a minute, with a text message with information on the cause of the outage and restoration time.  Then VECO will dispatch its e-crew to the customer’s sites to check the cause of the power outage and will fix it for power restoration.

To report the outage, you can choose any of the 3 ways below:

text ASKVECO (space) OUTAGE (space) [VECO Account I.D];
text ASKVECO (space) OUTAGE (space) [VECO pole number];
text ASKVECO (space) OUTAGE (space) [complete address]

The Account ID and POLE Number can be seen in your VECO Bill but for POLE Number, it can also be acquired by checking the nearest POLE in your vicinity.

For Smart/Talk’nText/Red Mobile users, you can text to 391-8326 and for Sun Cellular users and other networks, you can text to 0922-9998326.

ASKVECO OUTAGE is the second in VECO’s TxtBroadcast series designed to make VECO more accessible to its customers.  The Utility company also launched  the firsts series-ASKVECO BILL- last July 2011. This service provide customers easy access on their bill information in advance.  Since then, over 75,000 customers have used the ASKVECO BILL service minimizing the surcharge for late payments and disconnection.

VECO, co-managed by Aboitiz and Garcia families of Cebu, serves the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay and Naga, plus the towns of Liloan, Minglanilla and San Fernando.
